Nikolai Tolstoy campaigning in Witney
UKIP parliamentary candidate, Nikolai Tolstoy has been out and about campaigning in Witney and meeting with some enthusiastic support. He is shown here with fellow UKIP member, and candidate in last year's European elections, Philip Vander Elst, talking to a voter in the town centre.

On Friday 16th April Nikolai was interviewed by a team from the BBC who had come to Witney to make a programme for the World Service about democracy in Britain, and how tough it is for the smaller parties fighting a seat like Witney where the Conservatives have had such a large majority. Tolstoy told the BBC that UKIPs presence, in a seat like Witney, was absolutely crucial in extending real democracy. It gives voters unhappy with Britain's membership of the EU the choice of a party to vote for which reflects their preference, something denied by the Labour, Conservatives and the LibDems. For anyone sympathetic to UKIP policies, a vote for David Cameron is a wasted vote. The more votes UKIP can pile up in Witney, the stronger the message as to how people really feel about the EU.
